Yesterday afternoon; it was Moderna, and I slept quite badly, and have spent much of the day headachey, dehydrated, with sore muscles and a fever, though I napped some in the afternoon today and feel quite a bit better though not 100% now.

Posting here in the interests of informing so many interested people as possible so efficiently as possible, I got my first shot of the Astra-Zeneca vaccine this afternoon and have an appointment for the second on August 18.

gainful employment

I am now into the third week of a senior software developer position with a local startup. Seems to be going generally well, there's a lot I can't talk about but it has been pleasing to confirm that my ability to pick up new programming languages and related technologies is still up to scratch.

It was also remarkably pleasing to finally be able to answer my father's constant background level of fret about the two-and-a-half year gap on my employment history being a terrible thing which I should counter by taking any possible job immediately, no matter how unpleasant or otherwise unhelpful; I told them in the interview I had spent much of that time writing two novels and they thought that was cool. (It is also entirely true, at least rounded to an integer value; "half of one novel and all of another and about a quarter of a longer one" seemed an unhelpful degree of precision in the circumstances.)
